Being a Mother

This turned out to be one very eventful Mother's Day!  We woke to a bat in our room at about 12:30 this morning and that seemed to set the tone for the entire day.  After about an hour and a half of hunting down and capturing said bat, I was in for  a sleepless night with a teething two year old.  Then it was up at 6 to get ready for worship team sound checks.  Elle has a huge cold sore on her lip....poor little thing, and both kids were extra crabby because of getting up earlier than usual.

All day long Elijah talked about the bat.  His favorite thing to say was "there was a bat in your room and it kept swooping."  I think he just likes to say swooping.  He and Daddy drove the bat out into the country to release it and he loved every minute of it.

We spent the afternoon trying to get our overly tired babes to sleep, but never had any such luck.  Elliot could be consoled by no one but mommy, so we were inseparable today (and that's okay). We ended the night with a romantic Sunday evening drive in the hills. It was gorgeous and it was the perfect end to a typical day of motherhood (well all but the bat). And what made it even more perfect was the sound of silence from the sleeping babes in the backseat. :) As I finish typing I'm laying in bed with my baby girl who is still in extreme teething pain. Hoping and praying this ends soon. Hate seeing her like this. Happy Mother's Day! I'm seriously the luckiest girl in the world!!
